(March 2, 2010 – New York, NY) He celebrated his 16th birthday yesterday (March 1st) and now Teen Island star Justin Bieber’s juggernaut rolls closer and closer to the March 23rd release of MY WORLD 2.0. The new album, a collection of 10 all-new songs, is the follow-up to Justin’s RIAA platinum debut album, My World, released in November.
The first single from MY WORLD 2.0 was “Baby” featuring Ludacris, which rose to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is currently the #1 video on iTunes. Meanwhile, iTunes’ “Complete My Album” campaign for MY WORLD 2.0 begins today, March 2nd, for those who’ve already purchased “Baby” and another single off the new album, “Never Let You Go.”
My World was the subject of a “Golden Ticket” campaign whose winner – recipient of a private concert by Justin – will be announced later this week. At the same time, the “Golden Ticket 2.0” campaign launches this week in support of MY WORLD 2.0, with a much bigger prize at stake – as four lucky winners will go to the Bahamas to see Justin perform at the Atlantis on June 12th.
Justin, who was a presenter at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards telecast in January, has been chosen one of only two music performers (along with Island Def Jam labelmate Rihanna) at this year’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on March 27th. The Nickelodeon All Access Kids’ Choice Awards Contest launches on Wednesday, March 3rd and runs through March 10th on http://www.nick.com/ . My World, which earned RIAA platinum in just seven weeks, contained Justin’s first four Top 40 hits on the Hot 100, “One Time” (certified RIAA platinum), “One Less Lonely Girl,” “Love Me,” and “Favorite Girl.” Justin is the first solo artist in history to send four songs from a debut album into the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 prior to the album’s release.
Born in Stratford, Ontario, Justin Bieber is a multi-talented pop/soul singer, and a self-taught musician on drums, guitar, piano, and trumpet. To date, he has surpassed 100 million YouTube.com views (the first 50 million of them as an amateur starting in 2007, posting renditions of his favorite hip-hop and R&B songs).
